 Come and be part of this once in every 20 year happening.

Join us on a journey in Ladies Walk, Avenham Park, Preston where this superb location theatre company from the Netherlands  has created a world exclusive performance especially for the Preston Guild. Combining stories from Stephen Park, Hodder Valley with those sourced locally in Preston.  This show involves music, storytelling, local heritage, food and some hidden surprises along the way. 

The show is free, but we'll ask for donations

Suitable for all ages but do come prepared to take a short walk. You might like to bring a raincoat

 From Stephen to Avenham is the creative vision of Dutch locationtheatre company PeerGroup, supported by Lancashire-based Culturapedia, and is a “Made in Preston” Preston Guild 2012 commission.

How to find us:

Ladies Walk is in Avenham Park, Preston PR1 8JT. The promenade walk is above and to the right of the main Avenham Park field . You can find it from the city by walking to the Arts Institute, Avenham Lane and entering the park from infront of the old building.

Ladies Walk in Avenham park is easily accessible on foot from the town centre, or along the river. There’s the new Preston cycle route which brings you to the door.

By car:

Avenham Park is in the centre of Preston but this event is part of a very busy festival. Unless you require access as a disabled driver, we recommend you take public transport to the city.

Frequent intercity and local trains run to Preston. Avenham Park is walking distance from both the bus and train station. Follow the signs

Access:

This show is suitable for all ages and set outside on a sandy path with slight slopes but could involve some travel from a car park

 From Stephen to Avenham is two years in the planning.

 

Drawing on the history of the Guild when traders came in from distant parts to trade and celebrate, the project links groups from the Hodder Valley and Preston via the Hodder River and River Ribble. The company have created a performance showing their lives through images, food, music and storytelling. Putting stories from rural and urban Lancashire firmly on the map. 

 You can also find them in action in their pop-up shop in the Guild Arcade.
