Beethoven Sonata in C Op 53 (Waldstein)
Liszt Sonata in B minor
Our Artistic Director, Martin Roscoe, performs two of the great sonatas;
Beethoven's Sonata is often given the name of its dedicatee - but in Italy is known as ‘The Dawn' for the opening of the third movement, and Liszt's B minor, dedicated to Schumann, with its almost sinister opening and quiet end, and an enormous musical architecture in between.
